Purpose of the organization

The International Association of Environmental Analytical Chemistry   (IAEAC) supports a regular exchange of scientific information between experts in the areas of analytical chemistry, ecotoxicology, environmental chemistry,  risk assessment and   related areas. It seeks to inform its members of  recent advances, new technology, and current data in the field and to increase awarness among analytical chemists of environmental issues. It takes action in response to relevant environmental problems and on questions regarding environmental protection and control.
In order to achieve this goal it organizes symposia, workshops and short courses on new technology and data, on special topics and problem areas and  on specific environmental pollutants.
It publishes proceedings and newsletters and uses other means ( i.e. public media ) to transmit knowledge and to take issue on environmental topics of high current interest.

Activities

The activities of IAEAC, formally established as an association  February 1st, 1977 , date back to 1971  with the oganization of the First Annual Symposium on Environmental Analytical Chemistry, ( formerly named "Annual Symposium on the Analytical Chemistry of Pollutants" ) held in Halifax, Canada, chaired by the late first president and founder of the association Prof. Dr. Roland W. Frei.

Since then different series of symposia, workshops and short courses and additional symposia and workshops on selected topics have been organized by our association.
